about
What is Natural?

Is it a given sense of norms that we apply to what we see everyday? Is it our own unfiltered lives? Is is a set of musical and physical chords that sweep us along, or something bigger?

Or is it multiple parts of a whole?

Following up on his freshman release "ILLuminate," AMS brings us "Natural: Self," a 13-track effort in which he shows us how he's grown since the 21-year old kid releasing what seemed like "just another" hip-hop album from a college scene.

"Natural: Self" finds AMS (Agent Mos) 5 years after his first shout unto the world, having "re-taught himself to write," as the artists describes. What follows is an album that sounds as fluid as "ILLuminate" did, but with a greater sense of maturity. The party hopping is still there, and as are the nerdy references, blistering lyricism, and journalistic eye for detail. However, it is made sharper by personal experiences, and a change in musical direction, as influenced by how he has grown, as well as those around him.

Meet 27-year old AMS, hailing from a set of confusing musical upbringing on Chicago's South Side. The breakbeat beat-down is ... more still ever present, but the years of listening closely have given him an even greater talent for storytelling, and a subsided fear of being himself on tracks.

A new record. A new person.

Ladies and gentlemen, the TRUE Nerd King: AMS.

Lights on. Welcome back. less
