With the tumult and righteous upheaval present in the world today, but especially in cities around the US, a Rap release should be the last thing on any artist's mind. We as musicians, often taking on the role of the translator between the intangible or indescribable shades of the human condition, have a louder voice in times like these than we care to know.
The last couple of weeks, attempting to keep a "business as usual" mind state has been incredibly difficult. Professionally and personally. As a Black man in America, this becomes a taxing process; often one where we are expected to either grow numb to what we witness (on a daily basis), or speak out, and perpetuate stereotypes that have been cast onto us.
All of this is happening in a time where Black people are being asked AGAIN to prove our worthiness of being seen as human. Of deserving the same rights to due process. To life. To happiness.
While all of this is going on, somewhere in the background, I finished something. Some of the wild roadblocks of the last year got out of the way. The kind folks over at Soapbox Music, RTST, and I managed to put the finishing touch on the great distraction (and therapeutic necessity) of the times -- we made some art.
And even with everything that's going on right now, we need victories, and we need the work. The work is still yet to be done, and being done right now -- protests, marches, fundraising, boycotts, accountability.
But, just as much as the work needs to be done, there need to be moments of joy to accompany it.
So, with the blessings of my studio engineers, I'm happy to present "The Over/Under EP."
Official digital release on June 26th, 2020.
Take care of yourselves, and each other, please. There's work to be done. No more bodies turned hashtags.

an emotional album that rewards multiple listens . a singer song writer approach with the vocals over beautiful lo-Fi electronic based beats . Dusty ,yet beautiful , told simply, to create something more complex . there's a genuine pain heard in his gruffy voice that makes it irresistible . addicted-2-booombap
